13/08/2026 - On Wednesday, 12th August millions across the UK witnessed the most significant solar eclipse since 1999, with some across Europe witnessing the total darkness of a total eclipse.

We’re entering a “golden age” of total solar eclipses between 2026 and 2028 but the UK won't see a total solar eclipse for over 64 years - not until 23rd September 2090.

Eclipse glasses became a hot commodity in London so members of our team had to improvise.

The solar eclipse can only happen because of a lucky cosmic match: the Sun is about 400 times wider than the Moon, but the Sun is also about 400 times farther away from Earth. This makes both objects look almost the exact same size in our sky, allowing the Moon to block the Sun completely.
