We balance light and darkness to support a range of activities, from large community gatherings to quiet contemplation. We use light to reveal and interpret the form and detail of the architecture.

Candle-inspired lighting evokes monastic ambience through low-level warm-toned illumination and custom glass-shaded LED fixtures. Layered, individually controlled lighting supports contemplative life and adaptable liturgies while preserving architectural clarity. Light is used sparingly and sensitively to reveal form, texture and detail, with a strong focus on concealing sources to maintain serenity.

Vajrasana Buddhist Retreat Centre, Suffolk


Layered lighting forms nine adaptable scenes to support diverse rituals, meditation, and teaching needs.  A radiant aura and softened shadows enhance the transcendental presence of the gilded Buddha rupa. Elegant architectural integration combines concealed and custom lighting to balance reverence with flexibility.

Innovative integration of new and historic fittings delivers layered, flexible lighting for worship, tourism and spectacle. Concealed architectural lighting reveals vaults, dome and key features with minimal visual impact. A benchmark heritage project balancing conservation, sustainability and technical ingenuity over a four-year night-time-only installation.

A lunar-inspired lighting cycle symbolically mirrors the Islamic calendar, subtly transforming the mosque’s appearance. Seamlessly integrated, concealed lighting enhances spiritual ambiance for both intimate prayers and large televised events. The exterior becomes a poetic, evolving landmark, shifting from moonlit white to deepest blue without perceptible change.
