Lighting design often leads to the waste of valuable resources.
Reducing waste is essential for creating a more sustainable world. In lighting design, waste can take two principal forms: physical waste, such as excess packaging or broken or redundant equipment, and wasted energy from over-illumination, light pollution or poor control. Over-specification also contributes to waste.
Physical waste comes from the construction and use of lighting equipment and can be minimised through careful specification and proper maintenance. Energy waste occurs due to poor design, over-lighting, or inefficient focusing and control systems......
