2. Treat light as a 24/7 system
Natural and artificial light need to work together.
The ecosystem on our planet is reliant on the light emitted by the sun. We are part of this eco system. Natural light supports us during the day. Unlike many creatures, however, humans are not well adapted to the night. As a result, we developed artificial light to support our activities after dark - first through fire and then through lighting devices fueled by various sources such as tallow, wax, and oil. The industrialisation of artificial light, via gas and then electricity, finally allowed us to extend the day easily and affordably………
