Lighting needs to meet the specific needs of both individuals and society as a whole.
While following the well-known maxim ‘use the right light in the right place and the right time’ seems straightforward, it is often not fully addressed.
The "right light" refers not only to the amount of light (measured in illuminance and luminance) but also to its quality. This includes the light's spectrum, colour rendering properties, and colour appearance........
