8. Consider the absence of light
Darkness should be seen as positive, beneficial, and an integral part of lighting design.
We cannot think about light without also considering darkness, which comes in many forms, from the total absence of light to varying degrees of shadow.
Contrast, created by differences in light intensity and direction, as well as darkness and shadow, is essential for our vision. We rely on contrast to perceive the world around us. Light and shade shape form and define space, making darkness a key component in Light Architecture.......
